FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTASY is a beautiful album, but as another has pointed out, there are moments that the pain drips from her words. People on Amazon have starred this as her masterpiece - because this is the first and only album that I have by Sarah, I cannot comment on the validity of this, but what I can say is that the amount of talent she /5().

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy is Sarah McLachlan's best album, in my opinion. I first bought it in and, despite a somewhat dated mixing style, the songs and performances still hold up well 26 years later. Truly one of the best albums of the s. One person found this helpful/5().

Oct 28,  · W hile its comparably mainstream follow-up, the multi-platinum Surfacing, helped Sarah McLachlan become a household name in the U.S., ’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was a slow-burning success story. The album’s lead single, “Possession,” took its time fluttering around the bottom regions of the pop charts, but it’s ultimately become one of the artist’s signature songs.

Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was Sarah McLachlan’s international breakthrough. The album ventured into darkness and light and showcased her ethereal voice—complete with deliciously crackling vocal break—and deeply personal lyrics. “Possession” is devastating and brooding, melding a sticky trip-hop beat with intense, spine-tingling imagery.
