Great album! Hot jazz on violin and guitar (as Barry McCanna noted in his review, 11 of the 14 tracks feature Venuti's long-time partner Eddie Lang on guitar, and the three that don't feature Dick McDonough on guitar on "Sweet Lorraine" and "Hiawatha's Lullaby" and Frank Victor on "Satan's Holiday" -- these were recorded after Lang's tragic early death in March ) doesn't get any better /5(10).

Joe Venuti ('78) Joe Venuti is widely regarded as the first great jazz violinist. Born to Italian parents who emigrated to the States (he claimed to have been born on the boat, though as we'll see, all his stories are to be taken with a pinch of salt!); he learned classical violin as a child, the fruits of which can be clearly seen in his exciting melodic and rhythmic technique.
